Mulwala

Headed off today towards Rutherglen. What a great trip along the Murray, we had a stop at Mulwala where we topped up on supplies and utilised a local dump point and refilled the water tanks.

Lake Mulwala.

It was then off towards Rutherglen, what a great little town. We had a look around the main street, great period style shops and a great Bakery, the pies where to die for, the place was packed which was a testament to the quality of the pies.

The tourist information centre had a lot of regional information out the wine growing area and vineyards and a great selection of local wines.

It was then off to the free camp at the "Police Paddock" on the banks of the Murray River where we found a great spot, there where plenty of sites even though it was a long weekend with about 12 vans present.

Love this free camping, the caravan gives you so many more opportunities where to stay with little effort to setup.

Still at Bourkes Bend

A lazy day today, rained last night but turned into a nice day. Decided to try my hand at Cod fishing only to find out I left the reels on the garage workbench, and to make matters worse we saw at least 3 fish jump in the river and heard many more. We went for a drive in the afternoon to Bourkes Bend 1 & 2 not as pretty as the one we are staying at and saw some local kangaroo's who blended into the bush and where hard to see then back to the van for a camp oven stew for tea. Heading towards Rutherglen tomorrow.

Morning on the Murray.

Bourkes Bend

Left Deniliquin on Tuesday and travelled via Finley and Tocumwal, both nice small country towns. It was then onto Cobrum in Victoria where we decided to explore some riverside camps, we reviewed the spots in both Camps 6 and Wiki Camps and we decided to have a look at Bourkes Bend No 3. It turned out to be a nice spot so we decided to stay, probably for a couple of days. There are a few other campers here and some where packing up as we arrived. The weather is overcast with a few light showers, good book reading time. we had same lovely walks a long the river edge Chris was surprise that it was a sandy bottom. we saw a couple having a wash in the river which we thought would be so cold . So Chris had to take her shoes off and have a paddle in the Murray to her surprise it was not cold at all.
